Imran Khan in Karan Johar's next

Imran Khan
This gorgeous Khan boy is making the right moves. In fact, we’d say that he’s a few steps ahead of his Mamu. One year into his career and he can already boast of a great line-up of movies, and of course, a huge fan following (read: female). Now Imran Khan has clinched a real biggie, the one big break that almost every actor in B-town waits for — the Dharma camp.

Yes, apparently Imran will be seen in Karan Johar’s next, which is being directed by Puneet Malhotra (Manish Malhotra’s nephew). This newbie director had assisted Karan on K3G and KANK, and now KJo has given him the green signal to head his own venture. And guess who IK’s co-star is for this one, the lovely Sonam Kapoor. Sweet pair, no? And last but not the least... you will never in your wildest imagination guess the title of this movie. It’s tentatively called, I Hate Love Stories. Now are we supposed to believe that the KJo we know hates loves stories? No way! He’s gotta be kidding us.

Saif celebrates birthday mid air

Saif Ali Khan
Jab We Met filmmaker Imtiaz Ali turned a year older recently. And his birthday was one to remember. Saif Ali Khan decided to make it special for Imtiaz mid-air itself as they were travelling on the director’s birthday.

There was a fancy cake and some champagne with all passengers joining in to sing the birthday song on board. Of course, Imtiaz was a wee bit embarrassed. But he was touched as well. On landing he told us, “This is one janamdin I am not going to forget.” Talk about candles in the wind...

Farhan & Deepika to Rock on

 Deepika
farhan-akhtar
Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone were made to dance on the streets of Kochi when they were shooting there recently for their film Karthik Calling Karthik.

A group of 20-25 youngsters landed at the Kochi Fort where they were shooting and did not allow them to shoot until both Deepika and Farhan danced with them to the tunes of Rock On!!.

Our source present on the sets said, “We had all the necessary permissions to shoot. However, we never thought that crowds would be an issue. Deepika is there films old and Farhan has done just two. South Indian films are more popular in Kochi and we never thought that the crowd would bother with Deepika or Farhan. However, a group of youngsters landed on location and requested the actors to dance with them.”

Farhan and Deepika, who are both extremely shy, refused at first. However, the crowd went crazy and did not allow them to shoot. They started making a noise and they were so loud that it was impossible to concentrate on the shoot. Finally both of them had to agree. The crowd piped down and left only after Farhan and Deepika danced for at least 10 minutes with them.”

Evidently, the popularity of Bollywood knows no boundaries.

Jackky Bhagnani

Jackky Bhagnani
Jackky Bhagnani, who made his debut on the big screen with Kal Kissne Dekha, has been liked by the film fraternity for his performance in the movie. His dancing skills have been appreciated as well. Jackky, who has done a bit of everything — action, romance and comedy — has received good reviews from the critics. His debut movie was made under the banner of Puja films and was produced by Jackky’s dad Vashu Bhagnani.

However, the debutant missed out on the premiere of his film because he was performing at an award function in Macau. And there too, he was cheered by the audience when he performed on Soniye Billori and Ajja Ajja from Kal Kissne Dekha. The performance choreographed by Shiamak Davar had Jackky showing off some cool moves. Looks like this debutant is all set to get the audience grooving with him.

Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar, who has played umpteen roles in the course of his career, must definitely not have bargained for this one. Currently, on a holiday in New York, Disneyland, Puerto Rico, Canada and London with his son Aarav and wife Twinkle, he has taken up a new role, that of a spot boy.

Talking about his ‘job’, Akshay remarked in jest, “On my holiday, I don’t even take calls because I’m a servant.” Then on a more serious note, he quickly added, “I may be one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, but on vacation, my position is equal to that of my spot boy Nitin.” He explained that for the next 21 days, he will be at the beck and call of his son and wife. Like Aarav starts the day by dictating what they will eat for breakfast, how many rides they will take at Disneyland and so on.

“Even if my bones are weary with those amusement park rides, I have to comply with Aarav’s wishes. Just like Nitin complies with my wishes when I am working,” said Akshay, mimicking how he walks faithfully by his son’s side lifting his bag; and taking orders. On days when his darling son wishes to rest in his hotel room, Akshay still doesn’t get the day off. Akshay has to accompany wife Twinkle on her shopping expedition. He talked about how he sits patiently on a bench around the mall that Twinkle visits. “She goes to each shop looking for that exclusive dress. When she has picked up half a dozen, she orders me to sit on a bench. Sometimes she does a little ramp walk for me, asking for my opinion about what she should buy and what she must discard,” remarked the actor.

Shahrukh can become second Mogambo

shahrukh
Wondering what is this all about? Well, the all time favourite romance king of Bollywood may now play a negative role soon. The news is that director Shekar Kapur is all set to make a sequel to Mr. India, a film that created history in Bollywood. As interesting as it sounds, the director has made up his mind to cast Shah Rukh Khan as Mogambo in Mr. India 2. Reportedly, this role was earlier finalised for Kay Kay Menon, but Shekar changed his mind at the last moment as they required a bigger star for the character.

The lead pair of the film would remain unchanged as according to him, no one could replace the chemistry of Anil Kapoor and Sri Devi. However, SRK still hasn’t nodded yes for the movie. However, it would be great to watch King Khan back in the villain’s shoes after Baazigar.

Sridevi to appear in Salman's show

He romanced her in Chaand Kaa Tukdaa way back in 1994 and now, she’s his producer. Salman Khan
and Sridevi have always shared a good rapport. So when Salman requested the reticent actress to make an appearance on his television show, 10 Ka Dum, she couldn’t refuse. Insiders say that Sridevi and filmmaker husband Boney Kapoor spent close to five hours on the sets earlier this week and though portions of the show were meant to publicise their film Wanted - the emphasis was on the fantastic rapport between Salman and his former co-star. Boney Kapoor, who is an ardent fan of Salman, said, “Sri has been asked to appear on Koffee with Karan, on Vir Sanghvi’s show and has also been invited by several other prominent talk show hosts. However, she politely refused the offers because she is shy.

But when it came to appearing on Salman’s show, Sri didn’t have to be persuaded. Like me, she also shares a good rapport with Salman.” Apart from acting, Sridevi and Salman also share another common interest - painting. In fact, some of Salman’s paintings are put up in Kapoor’s residence alongside paintings by Sridevi. When Salman got to know about her talent, he requested Boney to sneak in two of her paintings to the sets of the show. Much to Sridevi’s surprise, Salman also showed her paintings to the viewers.

Emran refuses to kiss

Imran Khan & Soha
Although Emraan Hashmi has kissed several actresses in most of his films, his ego recently took a beating when Soha Ali Khan refused to kiss him in ‘Tum Mile’, a film based on the 26/7 deluge. Incidentally, Soha had initially agreed to do the scene.

It seems Soha was informed about the scene right from the start. However, on the day of the shoot, she suddenly backed out. Director Kunal Deshmukh tried to convince her but by the time he could do so, it was Emraan who refused to shoot after he heard about Soha’s refusal.

Akshay Upsets Bollywood directors

Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar has been telling producers of most of his films to include international bands apart from the Indian music directors to compose music for his films.

He had convinced producer Mukesh Talreja to get rap artiste Bohemia to compose music for Chandni Chowk to China. He also insisted on including Britain’s popular bhangra band RDB to compose music in two of his forthcoming films - De Dana Dan and Kambakkht Ishq. As a result, Indian music composers like Anu Malik (Kambakkht Ishq) and Pritam (De Dana Dan) are upset with Akshay.

A source said, “There is no denying that RDB and Bohemia give good music but it is unfair to the music directors of the films if any other group is asked to compose music at the eleventh hour. Anu and Pritam’s annoyance is justified. Even Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy were miffed when Bohemia composed music for Chandni Chowk to China, but they let it pass.”

Ratan Jain, producer of De Dana Dan, said, “Akshay can give several ideas but the director has to ultimately decide whether they have to be implemented or not. It’s a good thing that Akshay takes a keen interest in all his projects. He made us listen to the song by RDB but we still haven’t decided whether we will be including it in our film.”

Sajid Nadiadwala, producer of Kambakkht Ishq, admitted that Akshay got RDB to compose music for the film. “Akshay recommended RDB. They are his friends. They had also done the music in Singh is Kinng. We wanted a song with the word ‘Mangalam’ in Kambakkht Ishq. Anu helped us with the way the song starts after which RDB completed it.”

Mukesh Talreja, co-producer of Chandni Chowk to China, too confirmed that Bohemia composed a song in his film because of Akshay. “We were introduced to Bohemia by Akshay,” said Mukesh.

Surprisingly, Anu Malik, known to dislike sharing credits in any film, said, “I have no problem with RDB having done the music Kambakkht Ishq. It’s all about team work and I am happy with the end result.”

Adhyan to get fit for new role

Adhyayan Suman
It’s almost become a norm now overweight star kids going on strict fitness regimes just to lose the extra kilos to enter the big, competitive world of Bollywood. Adhyayan Suman was also a chubby child and plump teen. Standing at 5’11, he weighed over 124 kgs before joining films. Now, for his upcoming film Dekh Bhai Dekh, where he plays an army officer, Adhyayan is going the distance to get a lean, tanned, extremely fit look, because that’s what his director Anand Mahendroo wants.

And we hear that Anand has invested Rs 10 lakhs for a two-week stay and training in Goa for his lead actor. This will include heavy duty outdoor training including running in the sand and running through water, two hours in the gym, power yoga, dance and a disciplined diet. Adhyayan also spent a few days with the jawans to understand the kind of training and discipline they undergo. Now that’s called taking role play seriously!

Anil Kapoor flying high

Anil Kapoor
Anil Kapoor’s energy seems inexhaustible. He flew 18 hours from Los Angeles, to Mumbai on June 8, only to fly to Macau a day later. The reasons were emotional and personal, as he flew in for daughter Sonam’s birthday and to work out the details of his next film, Shortkut - The Con is On’s release.

“Initially, I wasn’t sure of being there for Sonam’s birthday but when I heard that July 12 was finalised as Shortkut’s release date, I had two reasons to come. Although I had allotted my dates for the thriller series, 24, which is being shot in LA, I had to take time off to come to Mumbai and give my project a head start. From here, I will be going to Macau.

Our source said, “During the day he spent in Mumbai, he met the film’s director Neeraj Vora. He then planned the film’s promotional events schedule with co-actors Amrita Rao, Akshaye Khanna and Arshad Warsi. He also met the marketing and distribution team. After spending just 28 hours in the country, he flew to Macau. After spending the weekend in Macau, he will leave for LA to resume 24’s shoot,” said our source. to promote my film at an awards function,” said Anil.

Neil likes controversies

Neil Nitin Mukesh
In a recent chat, Neil Nitin Mukesh confessed that he like controversies. He also said that, until and unless controversies don’t arise, a film or a person will never be popular. He added, if a product is being launched in market, a controversy has to be there to popularize the product!

So it is like Neil’s nude seen in his upcoming movie ‘Jail’ is a publicity stunt?

It’s a must watch…take a look!

Akshay Kumar to meet Kane for son Arav

Akshay Kumar’s sevenyear-old son Aarav is thrilled! He is all set to meet his idol, World Wrestling Entertainment’s star Kane, who is in Mumbai. It seems Akshay personally requested the WWE officials to let his son meet Kane as the little boy is a huge fan of the wrestler. Kane, who will be in the city for a couple of days to promote WWE, will meet Akshay and Aarav at their Juhu residence. Akshay’s son Aarav is a huge fan of WWE and Kane is one of the biggest stars of the show.

Akshay Kumar
Incidentally, the actor had earlier worked with Kane’s brother Undertaker in Khiladiyon Ke Khiladi and he personally knows Kane. However, since he has not been in touch with them for some time now, he requested the WWE officials to do the needful. WWE arranged for a meeting and Kane will be visiting Akshay Kumar’s house.

Hrithik Roshan to be seen as Jungle boy

Hrithik Roshan
Hrithik Roshan soon will be seen in a jungle boy avatar. Hrithik is all set to don a new avatar of jungle boy in Sanjay Khan's production ‘Welcome To The Jungle’.

Hrithik apparently will play the role of a wildlife explorer. So it's natural that he'll have to part with his designer wear and roam around in a khaki shorts instead. For that, the actor has been asked to work on his legs to make them more attractive. Hrithik will also chop his locks to come out of the Kites look.

Amir & Shahrukh friends again.

Srk & Amir Khan
Last time when we saw Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan meeting in very high profile way at some hotel in Mumbai for the reason of solving the producers-distributors strike, one might had thought that it was just to show people that they are still friends and no rivalry between them. But we have something new to say about the tale.

These two Bollywood biggies met once again few days ago at some studio to check out what’s the status of the strike. However, this time they kept away the media who they thought might divert the attention from the real issue.

“The last time, the papers, the news channels and internet sites focused only on the Aamir-SRK grand union, they completely ignored the cause.

The stars themselves realised this and made it a point to keep their second meeting a completely low-key affair. The multiplex strike still continues despite efforts from every big name in Bollywood to put an end to it. And, Aamir and SRK are very concerned,” said one producer.

Shah Rukh Khan to organise quiz

Shah Rukh Khan is all set to quiz some more. But this time around, it is for the students of a Business school. Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) has roped in SRK to host their annual business and marketing quiz, not just for this time, but for the next three years.

Shah Rukh

To be held in association with Planman Media’s magazine, 4Ps Business and Marketing, the idea is to make this India’s premiere B-school quizzing event. Well, quizzes sure are big on the annual festival list of every business school, but IIPM wants it to be an important annual calendar event in the B-school fest circuit, by not only having SRK host it, but also by making sure that a huge number of international B-schools participate in this quiz.

Shahid to get new hair style

If you think Anushka is the new girl in Shahid’s life then let us set the facts right! We are just talking about Shahid Kapoor’s character in Yashraj’s next where he has gone extremely short with his hair.
Shahid
Shahid Kapoor has proved that he is a complete method actor. After sporting long hair for his role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey, he is all set to go as short as a crew cut for the Yashraj project.

Anushka Sharma who is romantically paired opposite Shahid in this film by debutant director Parmeet Sethi, will also be seen sporting fringes - a big variant from her simple ‘Punjab di kudi’ look in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Akshay to renew friendship with Shahrukh

Bollywood is in the mood to dump the old hatchet and build up a new relationship. After Shahrukh Khan befriended with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at Karan Johar’s birthday bash, stunt hero Akshay Kumar is in the process of extending olive branch to his friend-turned-foe Shahrukh Khan.
Akshay with Shahrukh
By sending best wishes to Shahrukh’s team, Akshay Kumar has tried to bridge the gap between the two, he wrote, "I'd like to send my best regards to Shah Rukh and his team. You've put up a good fight, so don't worry boys you will always be loved!"

Knight Riders poor performance at the IPL2 has broken down Shahrukh and Akki used the very issue to patch up with Shahrukh. Professional rivalry sour Shahrukh and Akshay’s relationship.

Let’s see whether Akshay’s message will melt Shahrukh’s heart and he accepts his friendship invitation by dumping the past.

John denies Karan's offer

John reluctantly but firmly said no to Karan’s offer to play the male lead in the desi version of Chris Columbus’s Stepmom.
Karan had given John a big break in Kaal a few years ago. And nobody can deny the recent Dharma dhamaka Dostana was a turning-point for John’s career. First Saif, then John, was approached to play the lead opposite Kajol and Kareena Kapoor in the desi version of Stepmom.
John and Karan's gossip
John almost agreed then opted out. Reason? He didn’t see himself doing much in a film that already started two powerhouse actresses, both natural-born scenestealers.

Says a source, “Karan had almost convinced John to do the role. He even promised that the husband’s role in the Indian Stepmom would be far more substantial than what Ed Harris did in the original. But John is at a stage in his career where he wants to make all the right career moves. He feels that as an outsider in the industry he has made a place that must be respected,” says a source close to John.

“John is finally learning to say no to projects even if they come from big banners if he isn’t convinced that he’d get proper performing space. In Dostana he went along with the salespitch that Abhishek was the ‘actor’ while John was the ‘body’. But in Dostana 2 John will make sure he will be the actor and the body. He’s working hard on it.”

The latest on Stepmom is that it’s yet to be acquired for remake by Dharma Productions.
Says Karan Johar, “The modalities for that are still being worked out. Until the contract is signed I wouldn’t want to comment on it. Stepmom was released in the same year as my directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and I loved it. I look forward to developing it if the modalities are worked out. You, of course, know Kajol and Kareena Kapoor are expected to play the two roles.”

In the meanwhile, the other Karan favourite Arjun Rampal who did a walk-on part in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna has agreed to step into Stepmom, if and when it gets made.

Shah Rukh Khan in Dhoom 3 ?

Yash Raj has completely rubbished off any rumors of Shah Rukh Khan enacting the protagonist in Dhoom 3. The news spread like “wildfire” when a leading British publication printed the incorrect information. Vice-President to Yash Raj was quick to deny the hearsay in an email, “This story is completely untrue and baseless. We have no idea where this rubbish originated but like all wildfires has spread rapidly.”
King Khan
Very quickly after that, there were also rumors afloat that Saif Ali Khan had taken over SRK’s role after King Khan had no dates. However, this report too was deemed as nonsense by the Yash Raj camp. As a reminder, in the previous two installments the likes of John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan have taken on the villainous roles in Dhoom 1 and Dhoom 2 respectively.

We will just have to wait and watch to see if Dhoom 3 will have any of the Khans in major roles. And you can be sure BollySpice will bring it to you as and when we get any news.

Amir and his success

This actor had the privilege of being born in a noted film family. But we have seen that being born with a silver spoon in mouth isn’t enough to guarantee success in life.

Amir

There are many actors who had silver spoons at their disposal all through their lives. Bobby Deol, Kumar Gaurav, Mohnish Bahl, and Abhishekh Bachchan in recent times, had opportunities laid out in platters for them, yet the going never really was strong for these starsons.

Aamir too did not have to strive for an opportunity to be a hero in films, at the same time he was humble enough to boost his prospects with talent and a lot of hard work. He started his career in films with a runaway success called Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, a film directed by his cousin, Mansoor Khan.

Aamir has come a long way since QSQT. Even after spending nearly 15 years in the film industry the desi version of Tom Hanks manages to retain freshness in his performances.

There were hits like Dil, Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahin, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Rangeela, Raja Hindustaani, Ghulam, Sarfarosh and there were the offbeat, critically acclaimed ones like Raakh, Earth-1947.

A seasoned artiste now, Aamir is slowly turning to production. His first film as a producer is a period film titled Lagaan. The film was done at a huge level and Aamir is said to have spent quite a handful in making the film.

Ranbir & Deepika look good onscreen only ?

Much speculation about the status of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s relationship are being made in recent times by the media and it still continues. The speculation started when Ranbir criticized Deepika’s dress sense in public and then after when Neetu Singh addressed her as just a friend. Now its Ranbir’s sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni who gave excuse to accept them as a couple.

Ranbir & Deepika

Talking about both of them Riddhima said, “Ranbir and Deepika are young, talented people and are quite poised and charming.”
When asked to her whether she welcomes them like a couple, she replied, “They make good on-screen pair and their chemistry is fine.”
Later when asked to her about their off-screen chemistry, she said, “I’ve never seen them together in that sense, so I don’t go by the media reports. Moreover, I stay in Delhi and don’t want to comment on this.”
