Mehmood Ali (September 29, 1932 – July 23, 2004) was a well known comic actor, he has acted in more than 300 movies. Mehmood Ali, popularly known as Mehmood was an actor, producer and director. Before stepping into the spot light, Mehmood use to drive cars and run errands for a few rupees. He worked as a driver for the Director P.L. Santoshi.
He is a son of actor-dancer Mumtaj Ali, he had an elder sister and six siblings were younger than him. Mehmood's first movie was Kismet. Director P.L.Santoshi's son Rajkumar Santoshi gave him a chance in his venture Andaz Apna Apna, he was hired to teach table tennis to Meena Kumari. Later he married Madhu ( Meena Kumari's sister).
Mehmood got a small break in the movie C.I.D followed by Do Beegha Zameen and Pyasa. He was well known for his comedy. Mehmood's first break as an actor and a director was the movie Bhoot Bangla, he followed the footsteps of Jhony Walker. His remarkable movies as a comedian are- Love In Tokyo, Padosan, Pyaar Kiye Ja. As Director, his well known movie is Kunwara Baap.
